Oktoberfest LA 2011

While the rest of the country prepares for a cold winter, Los Angeles celebrates the sunny skies with an outdoor Oktoberfest. Travel to Europe and back in just one weekend and experience the best flavors of Germany. The Oktoberfest includes a fun-filled day of the best German beer, food, and entertainment. In true Bavarian spirit, tapping the keg kicks off the day’s festivities. Authentic German brews are served in commemorative steins manufactured and shipped directly from Munich, Germany.

Not much of a beer drinker? Then you will enjoy the best of German Wine & Spirit tasting that will also be available.  Don’t forget the food. From Sausages to giant pretzels, your taste buds will be in heaven. Don’t forget the strudel.

Oktoberfest will be filled with the greatest of tunes and music. Take in the musical styling of Ray Bandini Revue and their all female singers. 4-female singer fronted, super fun and generally very friendly cover band performing music from the 60’s to the Present in the R&B, Motown, Soul, Blues, Rock n’ Roll, Classic Rock, Pop/Rock, Blues/Rock, Pop/Punk, New Wave and Alternative genres

Stay up dancing all night with 2nd Thought Band. They are a fun and energetic rock cover band, with Lisa’s dynamic chops, Kelly’s melodic sax accompanied by James crazy guitar, all wrapped up in Mikes whaling drums.

Wilkommen! Enjoy the two century old German festival of Oktoberfest with Gypsy as we voyage from the raucous Bavarian Hofbraühaus to the peaceful valleys of the Austrian Tirol.

The Gypsy Folk Ensemble is a dance company which performs the exciting and exuberant folk dances of Europe, America, the Middle East and Polynesia. The company has been a fixture in dance entertainment in Los Angeles and Southern California for more than 25 years.

Or tap your toes along with the world’s premier accordionist Robert “Smokey” Miles. He’s a musician and entertainer who is featured on accordion in Bob Dylan’s Christmas video.

Let the Fantastic FIG will amaze and dazzle the crowd with incredible strolling close-up playing card magic as he walks around the Oktoberfest events.

What more could you ask for… a Month of Food, Beer, and Music. Oktoberfest in LA is an experience you won’t want to miss.

Not near LA? There are several Okertberfest around the Southern California area and within driving distance of our hotel.

The Abbey (West Hollywood): Starting Oct 1st and running every following Saturday until the 22nd, everyone’s favorite boy’s bar will be celebrating Oktoberfest with parties hosted by the Drag Queen Bar Maids. DJ Aaron Elvis will also be present to serenade your games of beer pong, and  discounted lite beers and a menu of German specialties like pretzels, sausages,  currywurst, and pig on a spit will be available for your drunk+fat pleasure.

LA Oktoberfest (Vanguard, Hollywood) : Hit up this Hollywood spot on the 22nd, starting at 1pm, for a boozy afternoon party filled with beers, brats, bavarian brew maidens. Tickets are $25 and get you admission, a giant stein to hold your booze, and one drank to fill such stein. Additional booze and food (brats and pretzels) will cost you $5 a pop. Stripping yourself of any dignity you had by wearing Bavarian garb is strongly encouraged.

Blue Palms Brewhouse (Hollywood): Today starts the final week of Blue Palm’s Oktoberfest celebrations (ending Sunday, Oct 2nd.) Its not much of a party, really a generally available deal. But you can get your hands on some delicious and somewhat reasonably priced beers ($6 Oktoberfest pints.) If you want to drink such pint in style, purchase a $6.50 commemorative 25oz mug and glug glug glug all night long.

Wirtshaus (Mid City, La Brea): Again, not a party per se but a general meeting grounds for those that enjoy sausages and suds. Along with their standard menu of German fare, there will also be schnitzel, potato pancakes (love!) and pretzels to enjoy with your discounted German beer. The beer-pong room has been transformed into a beergarten-like space with communal benches so you can chum it up with the boozer next to you. And there will be live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The party runs daily until Oct. 8th so you still have some time to drink, enjoy, and repeat.

OktoBEERfest at The Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood): For those aspiring actors and LA residents who don’t mind a good Tuesday morning work hangover, next Monday (Oct. 3rd) head to hollywierd to get your hands on some 32oz beers, brats, and live music from 5-7pm.

City Tavern (Culver City): Much like the story at BluePalms, City Tavern is offering some Oktoberfest specials and deals daily until Oct 2nd. Beers available include Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest, Spaten Oktoberfest, & Hofbrau Oktoberfest and table-tender pours are .50/oz (self serve at table, reservations required.)
