Grammy Wedding

The 56th annual Grammy Awards is usually a star studded night filled with amazing music from a variety of talented singers and musicians, and recording acts, and this year included weddings.  Hilton Hotel & Resorts has been a long time sponsor of the Grammys, and this year’s ceremonies has special meaning to Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City hotel.  Robyn Monks, one of our Lobby Lounge bartenders, was among the couples who said, “I Do.”  Robyn and Adam Gropman, expecting their first child in April, heard about this opportunity in November 2013, and jumped at the chance to say their nuptials on national television.  Robyn, a recording artist herself as half of the country duo Shaker Sisters, said one day she would be at the Grammy Awards but this was not what she had in mind in her wildest dreams.

The Grammy organization (The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) was looking for interesting and diverse couples to exchange their vows on the show, and only thirty couples were chosen.  Robyn and Adam were thrilled to be among them.  “They kept the details secret until the night before the event.  A 30 second wedding is really the best,” said Robyn.  “It was an emotional event for all of participants as well as the onlookers.  I walked by Keith Urban and he was in tears.  It is emotional enough to be married for the first time, but to add the millions of TV viewers around the world made it quite the night to remember”.

Following the awards show, all the newly married couples were invited to the after party where Boyz 2 Men and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy played the night away.  Robyn and Adam were overwhelmed by all the attention and congratulations from the popular artists and celebrities in attendance.  “I felt like a celebrity all evening.  So many a people came up to hug and congratulate us,“ said Robyn with a big smile.

We congratulate Robyn and Adam on their marriage and the new addition that will soon grace their lives.
