Universal CityWalk and Chabad of the Valley to Celebrate 11th Annual Festival of Lights

As part of an 11-year tradition, Universal CityWalk will collaborate with Chabad of the Valley for one of Southern California’s largest Chanukah celebrations featuring a free Festival of Lights concert and the lighting of a 15-foot, 1,000-lb. Menorah. Hundreds will gather at “5 Towers” on Universal CityWalk for the festivities to include Jewish rock bands and Hasidic music with sounds from the 8th Day, Piamenta “The Next Generation,” Pini Cohen and the LA Cheder Boys Choir, while revelers partake in kosher food and dancing.

In attendance you will see familiar local faces including, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Councilmember Dennis Zine, Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel, Universal Studios Hollywood President Larry Kurzweil, Chabad of the Valley’s Rabbi Yossi Baitelman and other Jewish community leaders.

The Chanukah event is part of the overall holiday season at Universal CityWalk and Universal Studios Hollywood which embraces all of the diverse backgrounds and traditions that make up Los Angeles.  As a world-class entertainment destination, The Entertainment Capital of L.A. celebrates the season with live concert performances and thousands of shimmering lights at Universal CityWalk, and at Universal Studios Hollywood, “Grinchmas” features The Grinch, his faithful dog Max, tons of fresh snow, and nightly celebrity readings as part of the lively “Whobilation” tree lighting celebrations.
